Terezín Summer School
The Terezín Composers´Institute and Musica non grata project organized a Summer School in the former Terezín concentration camp from 16th to 19th August, where students from the Czech Republic and Germany could follow the footprints of the musical life of artists persecuted by the Nazis at lectures during the workshops, seminars and concerts. The programme included lectures by students and international lecturers and evening concerts presenting the work by authors who spent a significant creative part of their lives in the Terezín ghetto. The evening city featured compositions by so-called Terezín composers: Hans Krása, Pavel Haas, Gideon Klein and Viktor Ullmann, as well as composer Ils Weber, who left an indelible mark in the Terezín camp with her songs for children. In addition to composers who lived part of their lives in Terezín, the repertoire of concerts focused on the female composing phenomenon - works by Vítězslava Kaprálová and Marie Herz were presented.
